Current Safety Projects 🐾
Dog Park Friends Carmichael is working to support practical improvements that make the Carmichael Dog Park safer, easier to use and more comfortable for both dogs and people.
What We’re Working On
Clear Large & Small Dog Park Signs
New and replacement signs to clearly identify each play area and help visitors choose the appropriate space for their dog.
Safety Bulletin Boards
New bulletin boards in both dog park areas for rules, safety reminders, vaccination information, event notices and important updates.
Privacy Fencing Between Dog Parks
Adding visual barriers between the large- and small-dog areas to help reduce fence-running, barking and reactive behavior.
Privacy Fencing Along the Post Office
Exploring additional screening between the dog park and neighboring post office area to reduce distractions and create a calmer environment.
A Safer Water Feature
The existing pool can create safety and maintenance concerns. We’re exploring safer ways for dogs to cool off and enjoy water without the hazards of a traditional pool.
Safer Seating & Picnic Tables
Replacing or improving seating and tables with options better suited for an active off-leash environment.
Front Fence Improvements
Adding decorative screening along the road-facing fence to beautify the park while limiting outside visual triggers for fence-reactive dogs.
Better Health & Vaccination Communication
Improving communication about vaccination expectations, healthy park use and other information dog owners should know before visiting.
And More to Come
These are only some of the improvements being explored. As Dog Park Friends hears from regular park users and works with the Carmichael Recreation and Park District, additional safety needs and opportunities may be added.
Projects are subject to review and approval by the Carmichael Recreation and Park District. Dog Park Friends Carmichael is a volunteer committee of the Carmichael Parks Foundation.
