2024 - A Year of Recreation, Swimming And Park Improvements

A pie chart showing percentage allocation for various programs: Veterans Hall (28%), Garfield House (20%), Youth Scholarships (21%), etc.

The Carmichael Parks Foundation celebrated another year of service to the community by supporting a wide range of youth and family programming as well as improvements to several local parks. Foundation funds supported:

  • Modernization and improvements to the Veteran’s Memorial building in Carmichael Park,
  • Youth recreation and after school program scholarships including swimming lessons and Project Lifelong (skateboarding & mentoring),
  • Landscaping for the newly remodeled Garfield House Event Center, and
  • Fencing for the Sutter Community Garden.

Foundation volunteers also joined the Carmichael Recreation and Park District and other community organizations during summer concerts and family events for Christmas and Easter in Carmichael Park and helped educate local residents on the benefits of Measure G at election time. With no administrative overhead or paid employees, Foundation donations for projects are maximized.

The Foundation’s work was made possible through generous community donations along with a SMUD Shine grant. Over $70,000 was raised through the Dinner in the Park, Big Day of Giving, and the July 2nd Red, White and Blue celebration along with direct donations and the beginning of a new membership program.

The Foundation is looking forward to another year in support of the thirteen Carmichael parks and programs for youth and families in the community. Thanks to the voters for their support of Measure G for Great Parks in Carmichael. We are excited to partner with the park district as improvement projects get underway.
